NDSU Draws No. 1 Seed in FCS Playoffs

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State is the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Division I Football Championship and will host a second round game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, against either San Diego or Cal Poly.

North Dakota State won its final five games to finish 10-1 overall and won a share of its sixth straight Missouri Valley Football Conference championship with a 7-1 record in league play.

Cal Poly is 7-4 overall and tied for fourth place in the Big Sky Conference with a 5-3 record.  The Mustangs have a non-conference 38-31 road win over South Dakota State and a 38-16 home win over San Diego.

NDSU has a 4-3 edge in the series dating back to 1985 with Cal Poly, a former Great West Football Conference opponent.  NDSU is 3-1 against Cal Poly in Fargo including a 47-0 win in the 1990 NCAA Division II quarterfinals.

San Diego finished 9-1 overall and went 8-0 in the Pioneer Football League.  The Bison and Toreros have never met.
