DAPL Protester Arrested for Trespassing

A pipeline protester was arrested this morning for criminal trespass after crossing the just re-opened Backwater Bridge.

SHERIFF LANEY: I’m Sheriff Laney. I’m the guy in command out here what is it?

PROTESTER: Get the camera off me.

SL: That’s not your choice.  Okay, did you want to talk to me or not?

PROTESTER: I don’t know who you are.
 
“I don’t know if he was just trying to do recon work, you know, things have de-escalated and this is the kind of stuff that re-escalates things and then he brings the attitude right along with it,” explained Sheriff Laney after the arrest.

The suspect claimed that he was simply lost.

His arrest brings the total to 566 people taken into custody since August 10.
