West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern: “I Will Miss The Staff The Most”

Mattern Lost Re-election Bid Tuesday Night

WEST FARGO, N.D. — West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern’s viewing party last night started out with cheers as the first round of Primary Election results came in.

But by the end of the night, his opponent Bernie Dardis had taken the lead and won the election.

As a thank you for his 16 years in office, Boston’s Pizza brought over a round of champagne for Mattern, his family and friends.

He will remain in office until Monday and then retire.

“I will miss the staff the most because of all the 16 years that I’ve worked at city hall, we’ve had a lot of employees and this is probably the best staff that I’ve ever had,” said Mattern.

Mattern says he hopes Dardis will keep the city moving forward when he takes over.
