LIVE: Pet Connection: Meet The St. Patrick’s Day Kittens

FARGO — They’re a lucky little bunch of babies, because this band of brothers with all-Irish-themed names is being raised in a safe, loving foster home after their mother was taken in by a brand-new pet rescue established in Fertile, MN.

It’s called Smiley’s Rescue, and it’s a 5013c nonprofit established by a woman in her early 20s who’s got a handful of buildings and the memory of her childhood cat, after which the rescue’s named, to propel her toward her goal of rescuing, spaying and neutered all the homeless animals in her part of our region.

The St. Patrick’s Day kittens were born just 5 and a half weeks ago on the holiday, so they’re not ready to be taken from their mother yet and sent to their forever homes.

But at 12 weeks, that day is fast approaching when they can go to their forever families.

In the meantime, they’ve already started to display their individual personalities.

And kitten season is coming on soon, so area rescues are soon about to be even more swamped than they already are with new kittens who need homes.

Volunteer Debra Bartelt joined the Morning Show with Jameson, Guiness, Lucky, Shamrock and little Patrick to show the Morning Show folks what it’s like to raise such rowdy little boys, and to talk about Smiley’s Rescue and its mission to save and protect animals around the Polk County area.
