Pet Connection: Meet Hermes

FARGO — it’s one of the toughest diagnoses a cat can get, and little Hermes has been living with it since he was just a tiny kitten.

Like a lot of cats in the united states, Hermes was exposed to another cat with feline leukemia and wasn’t vaccinated as a kitten.

The incurable feline virus is one that could wind up shortening his life.

However, some cats survive for many years with the disease, and Hermes is about a year old now and still very perky and playful, as well as purr-fectly affectionate.

As you can see, he has a lot of energy and enjoys being around humans, including small children, as well as dogs.

He can’t give his virus to dogs, so he would do well in a home with them, and if you happen to have a cat with feline leukemia, he would love another kitty to play with too.

Right now he hangs out in the Smiley’s Rescue office with another leukemia-positive cat and the founder of smiley’s.

As a matter of fact, according to Smiley’s founder Sid Williams, he literally likes to hang around her neck and cuddle her all day.

If you’re looking for a kitty who’s “feline fine” in spite of getting dealt a rough hand in life, check out more on how to adopt him at the link here:
