LIVE: Pet Connection: Meet Zelda

FARGO — Zelda the German Shepherd mix is only six months old, but her life story is already the stuff of legends.

She comes to Pet Connection all the way from Bottineau, North Dakota, where she was discovered.

A tiny, 8-week-old puppy, she was found cowering in an open, rural area — entirely on her own, with no owner, mother or littermates.

So Bottineau-based Kritter Krazy Reptile and Exotic Rescue took the tiny puppy in.

They specialize in exotic pets, but occasionally take in cats and dogs too.

Zelda’s being fostered at the Wags Stay ‘N’ Play boarding and daycare in Fargo, and so she’s got a safe place to hang out and companions to play with while she waits for her furever home.

She’s shy at first with new people, but very sweet, and soon relaxes and cuddles up to you.

She has impeccable manners, and listens extremely well, especially considering she’s still a year or two away from being an adult.

As a matter of fact, people often observe she behaves more like an adult dog than a puppy.

Judging from the size of her feet, she has a good amount of growing and filling out ahead of her.

She does well on a leash but is still a little nervous about car trips.

But with enough fun adventures (and snacks), that could change.

She enjoys the company of other dogs, cats, and children, so she fits in with a lot of different families.

It’s time for Zelda to get a chance to make the rest of her legend a happier one.
