LIVE: Pet Connection: Meet Asuka

FARGO — If you’re looking for a big, beautiful young lady who loves the snow and pretty much everyone she meets, you definitely need to meet Asuka.

She’s about an Akita about a year and eight months old, so at 81 pounds, she’s pretty close to to her full adult size.

Akitas are a Japanese breed widely known for their intelligence, independent nature, and striking looks.

She has the thick, soft, Akita double coat, so be prepared for the “blowing coat” shedding that will happen when the weather warms up.

She’s excellent on a leash, and listens well to commands, and greets new people with kisses — a little unusual for what is sometimes described as a breed reserved with strangers.

She also displays none of the occasional dog aggression or prey drive that can come with Akitas, getting along well with kids, cats, and new dogs alike.

She charmed everyone on the Morning Show with her impeccable manners and striking beauty when she came in with Homeward Animal Shelter’s Heather Klefstad.

If this lovely young lady might be the right fit for your furever home, check out Asuka’s profile, here:
