LITCHFIELD, Minn. (KVRR) — Three-term U.S. Representative Michelle Fischbach is seeking another term in Congress in 2026.

The Republican was first elected in 2020, defeating 15-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson.

She won re-election last year in Minnesota’s 7th congressional district, which covers most of the western  part of the state, with over 70% of the vote.

“It is a new day in Washington, D.C., with President Trump in the White House and republican majorities in Congress,” said Fischbach. “We have been given an opportunity by voters to do the things that are needed to save our great nation. I launched my campaign in 2020 to push for stronger rural communities by cutting federal spending, rolling back burdensome regulations, and defending individual rights. We’re seeing these priorities being put into action under the America First agenda, and I want to continue working as the advocate for western Minnesota.”

Fischbach previously served as the 49th Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota and was the first woman in Minnesota history to serve as President of the Minnesota Senate.

She calls Regal, Minnesota home.

Last week, Erik Osberg announced he is also running for the seat.

The Wadena, Minnesota Democrat has worked in construction, media, finance, and as a small business owner.

He says he is running to bring honest, hardworking leadership to Washington.

Osberg says he see the pressures on family farms, struggles of public schools facing budget cuts, and stresses on rural healthcare systems.
