LIVE: Celebrating Service Members on Minnesota’s Lakes

FARGO — It’s the start of the Memorial Day weekend, and the YMCA wants to make it possible to share the beauty of lakes country with the service members of our region this summer.

That’s why they’re offering a day out on the water for all veterans from the region, and a day for fishing, relaxing, and finding some peace.

The annual event includes help from volunteers with FM Walleye and Muskies, Inc. to help get the vets in and out of the boats safely, and get them started on the sport if they’re novices.

It also offers transportation to Camp Cormorant on Big Cormorant Lake in Minnesota.

Best of all, says the YMCA’s Ashleigh Brown, it gives the service members a chance to connect with each other.

Brown joined the Morning Show to talk about what she gets out of the experience and what vets tell her they love about being there too.

The event is free, but you do need to pre-register.
