Widespread storm damage, power outages in Steele County
SHARON, N.D. (KVRR) – There’s widespread storm damage being reported across Steele County.
Sheriff Wayne Beckman said some of the worst damage appeared to be in Sharon, which took the brunt of the storm overnight, including toppled bins and roofs peeled from buildings.
“It’s a mess, especially Sharon,” said Beckman. “Aside from the structural damage and downed trees, we’ve got downed power lines in town.”
Beckman noted that the city of Sharon remains without power, and there currently is no estimate on when service will be restored.
Beckman also said Finley, N.D. sustained heavy damage. “We’ve got a grain bin down in Finley, which crushed a few vehicles, and the city shop took some heavy damage.”
He added that wind-blown debris from the building cut a power line to the city, leaving many Finley residents without power Friday morning, although power since has been largely restored.
