Couple in the hospital after carbon monoxide exposure in rural Garfield, MN

DOUGLAS CO., Minn. (KVRR) — A Douglas County, Minnesota couple were rushed to the hospital last night after showing signs of carbon monoxide exposure.
The sheriff’s office says Nicole Feeken called 911 to report symptoms consistent with a heart attack.
She said her husband, Jason Feeken, was starting to experience a seizure.
Dispatchers immediately told them to get out of their rural Garfield house.
Deputies arrived soon after and the couple were eventually airlifted for medical treatment.
They had recently started using their furnace and were unaware of any mechanical issues.
A technician detected high levels of carbon monoxide inside the house and determined it was coming from a water heater and furnace that were found to be out of code compliance.
