Pet Connection: Meet Monticello

FARGO — Monticello is a charming tuxedo kitty who’s got the impeccable manners and built-in formalwear that makes him the perfect companion for all your holiday gatherings and beyond.

He came in to Homeward Animal Shelter from the pound, and Homeward’s Heather Klefstad says that’s when they discovered he’s Feline Immunodeficiency Virus-positive, or FIV-positive for short.

That means that his immune system is slightly weakened over time, which can leave him susceptible to more kitty colds, for example, and a potential owner will also want to keep a close eye on his dental health.

For now, though, at a year and a half old, his general health is quite good.

He also has an extremely amiable disposition, taking easily to new people and really enjoying being cuddled.

He gets along well with other cats, and since his disease isn’t especially contagious, it would be safe for him to join a multi-cat household.

Monticello would love not just a home for the holidays, but a furever home with the right person or family.
