Deadly Cold Warning: Risks Indoors and Out
FARGO — The brutal cold this weekend is creating life-threatening conditions.
And Essentia Health Care providers say they’ve already treated multiple cases of carbon monoxide poisoning already this season.
They’ve also already seen their first case of frostbite come in for treatment.
Doctors say carbon monoxide is especially insidious.
Unlike frostbite, which first presents as pain and then shows unmistakable signs of physical damage, carbon monoxide’s symptoms are easy to mistake for other illnesses/.
They can include headache, dizziness, sleepiness and nausea, even vision and upper respiratory problems.
Hyperbaric medicine Dr. David Ajayi joined the Morning Show to talk about the risks both outdoors and indoors this weekend and some possible treatments.
