Pet Connection: Meet Jupiter

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — He’s named after a planet that’s pretty far distant from ours.

But little Jupiter the Malamute/shepherd cross wants nothing more than to be as near to you as possible, at all times.

The volunteers at Journey Home Animal Rescue say the year-old puppy has only been with them a few short weeks, but he’s already settling in nicely.

He was discovered about a month ago, living all by himself in the outdoors, with no family to take care of him.

Since then, he’s learned to live in his foster mom’s house, and learned to be kenneled.

He got the hang of both right away, and he loves hanging out with the other dogs there.

Jupiter is extremely warm and affectionate, and loves getting rubs and getting hugs and kisses from people.

At only about 65 pounds, he’s a manageable size for a large-breed dog, and they don’t think he’ll get a whole lot bigger as he reaches his full adult size.

He was just neutered last week, and he’s healing nicely.

And because he’s so cooperative with people, they think that if you want to do any special training with him, he’s likely to pick up on new skills quite quickly.

If you think Jupiter is as out-of-this-world as his rescue workers do, check out his profile, here:
