Fischbach wins GOP endorsement while Osberg secures DFL endorsement in MN 7th District

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Republican Rep. Michelle Fischbach has won the backing of the Minnesota GOP 7th District.
She was endorsed during the district convention on Saturday in Marshall, Minnesota over challenger Dave Hughes of Karlstad.
Hughes won the endorsement in 2016 and 2018 but lost both races.
Fischbach was endorsed in 2020 and defeated longtime Democrat Rep. Collin Peterson.
She has been re-elected twice.
In a social media post Fischbach wrote: “Thank you, thank you, thank you! Republicans in #MN07 are united behind proven conservative leadership, defending our majority in the US House, and driving turnout to turn MN Red!”
On the Democrat side, Erik Osberg of Wadena won the District 7 DFL endorsement over State Rep. Heather Keeler of Moorhead.
In a DFL press release, they say people turned out in huge numbers to take part in the grassroots process, packing the room on a Saturday morning in Granite Falls.
“Our team has put in the work over the last 410 days and we will win this race in 192 days. I’m truly grateful for all the support we’ve gotten along the way. We look forward to continuing to unite Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District,” said Osberg.
The primary election in Minnesota is August 11.
