Zebra mussels discovered in Richland County lake

RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) — The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has confirmed invasive zebra mussels in Horseshoe Lake in Richland County.

They were found while doing routine plankton tow net samples.

A follow-up sampling found additional adult mussels in the lake.

The lake is located five miles southwest of Hankinson and is near Lake Elsie, which has had zebra mussels for a number of years.

The Game and Fish Department strongly recommends cleaning your boat, draining all the water before leaving the access and allowing equipment to completely dry.
