Fargo City Commission Approves Special Assessment

The Fargo City Commission has approved a special assessment to guarantee repayment of bonds if not enough sales tax dollars are raised to pay the local share of the F–M Diversion.

City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn cast the only “no” vote, saying the assessment vote is confusing and stacked in favor of Fargo and Cass County because they have the biggest share of votes.

The final outcome on the special assessment district won’t be known until after April 30 when votes from 21 government entities and 50–thousand private property owners are tallied.
