Child Abuse Prevention Month In Clay County
Leaders in Clay County are making it known April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Members of The Clay County Local Child Abuse Prevention Council presented a proclamation at the latest county commission meeting.
Their goal is to bring awareness to child abuse locally and nationally.
In Clay County last year, Social Services assessed almost 700 children.
“So it really was this joint effort to make sure the message that we got out is that we want families to understand we want to work with them, and our goal is to do the prevention work versus assessing 675 children, we’d like to see that number go down,” said Social Services Supervisor Stacey Christensen.
County employees were asked to wear blue for the day.
