Chemical Spill At NDSU

Emergency crews evacuate a building at an NDSU research facility after responding to a hazardous material incident.

This morning, a glass bottle had been accidentally knocked over and began to create vapors at the NDSU Research Park.

Everyone made it out of the building safely.

The room where the spill happened was vented and the chemical was removed.

“It’s from the family of Amines which can be corrosive, flammable. Got quite a few different characteristics depending on the specific chemical itself,” said Fargo Fire Department Chief Craig Nelson.

Authorities say a researcher and student were working on a project when the spill happened.
