Police Chase & Altru Hospital Shooting

Grand Forks Police release a little more details on a Saturday morning shooting. It happened in the Altru parking lot after a chase. A UND campus police officer shot and wounded the suspect.
Around 10:40pm Saturday, police officers were involved in a car chase covering multiple counties. Along the way, the suspect’s vehicle struck one of the law enforcement vehicles.
At 12:45am, the UND police officer assisting in the chase was involved in a shooting in the parking lot of the Altru Hospital.
The UND police officer’s name has not yet been released but the suspect’s name has.
Chief of Police Mark Nelson says, “We can name the suspect. The subject involved was David Elliot, 41–year–old male from Grand Forks.”
The UND Police Officer shot into the suspect’s vehicle, striking him. The officer has been placed on “administrative leave” pending the standard investigation.
The UND Police officer was uninjured and the suspect is currently being treated at the Altru Hospital. No one else was injured.
Grand Forks Sheriff Bob Rost says, “The BCI is putting all this together. They have not finished the investigation yet and they have more to do today.”
