People from across F–M gathered to learn about the history and culture of Iraq.
The Fargo Library filled with people of all ages and nationalities to learn about the culture of Iraq by presenter Eman Yassin.
Trying the food and listening to the music of the country.
Nancy Melhorn who attended the event said, “I taught at Fargo South and there were students there from all over the world and I wanted to hear some background about how people lived in other places.”
13–year–old Zaid Alssaraj’s mother conducted the presentation.
And after moving from Jordan in 2008, it’s been a definite change and has had some think differently of him.
“People tend to think that Muslims are terrorist or bad people, but you know i guess today’s going to show that not all people are. It’s just another culture and were the same as everybody else,” said Alssaraj.
Zaid show’s his creativity through his YouTube channel, and says he can showcase where he came from.
His mother is proud of him and wants Zaid to continue to love where he came from.
Event presenter Eman Yassin said, “The boys learn and grow up here and they consider themselves as American–Muslim and they need to show everyone the reality of Muslim is respect love and peace.”
Although we are all different, Yassin says diversity is beautiful and that’s what America is all about.
