Fargo Schools Boundary Changes

The Fargo School Board gives unanimous preliminary approval to a school boundaries plan.

The goal of the plan is to alleviate expected overcrowding at Discovery Middle School and Davies High School.

The boundaries would shift more students to Ben Franklin Middle School and North High School where there’s more space.

The district is looking for feedback from parents and a form could be available online by the end of the week.

“I think it’s pretty important that we take a hard look at it, because if we don’t do something, we’re going to run into real tight facilities on the south end and particularly in Discovery and Davies, and eventually we’re going to get to the point of where those schools are way overpopulated,” said Fargo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Schatz.

There will be a final vote next month.

If approved, the new boundaries will be in place during the 2016–2017 school year.
