Authorities continue to investigate why a Perham man was driving on railroad tracks.

Twenty-one-year old Alec Bjerke was hit by a train Tuesday night. He is in fair condition at Sanford in Fargo.

An officer spotted Bjerke driving down the tracks, several hundred feet from the nearest crossing.

The train engineer saw the car’s light and hit the emergency brake, but couldn’t stop in time.
