West Fargo Police Chase Ends In Arrest
A Fargo man is behind bars after two police chases in the metro.
West Fargo Police say Zachary Rogers was in a stolen vehicle and say he could be tied to a string of car thefts over the weekend.
The second chase ended behind Hazer’s Auto and Truck Salvage with the arrest of 24–year-old Zachary Rogers.
Rogers got the truck he was driving stuck in the snow, tried to flee but police followed his tracks to a nearby car.
“It’s fortunate that we had snow recently, it created an obstacle. The pick–up became stuck in and then when he fled on foot the officers were able to track him,” said West Fargo Police Department Chief Michael Reitan.
Rogers also fled from Cass County Deputies and Fargo Police earlier in the night with a different stolen vehicle.
He is believed to be behind a string of robberies in Fargo where people left their vehicles unlocked and running.
Ian McDonald has lived in Fargo for over 30 years.
He has Autostart and always makes it a point of locking his car.
“I think people in Fargo are very trusting, but you know it’s not worth it to lose something and they can just strip your dashboard and everything else,” said McDonald of Fargo.
He has a lot of valuable property and fortunately he’s never dealt with his car being stolen.
“I like the features of the new vehicles for the self start because you have to lock it before it you start it up,” said McDonald of Fargo.
Neil Folkedahl was going into a pawn shop for two minutes.
But two minutes turned into 15.
His car was on.
“It’s a good car but when I first start it up, It’s got to run for at least 10 minutes before I shut it off again because if I don’t it won’t start again,” said Folkedahl of West Fargo.
Chief Michael Reitan advises you to never leave your vehicle turned on, and unlocked.
Something Folkedahl and McDonald already do on a daily basis.
Rogers is facing a long list of charges including, possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing and reckless endangerment.
He was also wanted on five warrants.
