Grant For Low-Income Homeowners
The City of Fargo gets a grant to help out low income homeowners.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is giving the city $270–thousand dollars.
It’s part of a Strong Communities Fund Grant to help repair homes of low–income and elderly homeowners in older neighborhoods.
A grand total of $854–thousand dollars will be donated throughout North Dakota with the goal of creating affordable housing.
Federal Home Loan Bank’s Curt Heidt says, “Some people we give them a list of what’s going to be done to their house and they’ll cry because they just couldn’t function in the their house with some of the things there are. Especially if they’re disabled or elderly they need the housing to be so you can get around in their house. So for them this is a huge opportunity to improve their lives.”
Grant money will also go towards creating more housing for homeless in Cavalier and affordable housing on the Indian reservation in Belcourt.
