LIVE: It’s Giving Golden
FARGO — Area nonprofits are starting to put together their big plans for Giving Hearts Day coming up next month.
It’s one of the biggest days in the region for charitable donations, and this is the second year the grassroots homelessness advocacy group Golden Drive for Homeless Kids is participating.
Founder Sue Baron started the nonprofit 13 years ago, while she was working in the hospitality industry.
She recalls wanting to help raise awareness, and starting with nothing more than a handful of crayons she’d collected from the tables, and a desire to make a difference in the lives of children whose families were struggling.
Today, she has countless local organizations helping her spread the message about how many children go to sleep every night in the Fargo metro area without a home to call their own.
Golden Drive doesn’t operate out of a brick-and-mortar locations, so all the money and goods the all-volunteer group raises can go directly to their cause.
Baron visited the Morning Show for a live interview with Emily to talk about why the work’s so important to her, and how you can get involved.
