Go Farm Connect to Host Group USDA Office Visit and Intro to Federal Farm Assistance

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – A new farmer-advocate group called Go Farm Connect is looking to equip the next generation of farmers for the future. While partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, they plan to bring an introduction to new farmers on farm loans, grants, insurance and disaster assistance.

And this isn’t just for English speaking people, as they will have other languages available upon registration. Amy Rice, who works at the non-profit PRAIRIE, says this will help ensure the future of farming in the region while also educating others on how to become farmers.

“Not only is it important to continue the farming that has existed here but to also evolve the food system to include more farmers of color, women, disadvantaged farmers and just have more local producers in any way.” said Rice, the incubator farm manager.

The event is set for the 15th at the USDA Farm Services Office from 4:30 to 5:30 P.M. in Moorhead.
