Fargo traffic enforcement team back after eight-year absence

Police Chief David Zibolski

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – You will soon see more traffic stops in Fargo. Police Chief Dave Zibolski says his department is bringing back the traffic safety enforcement unit this week, which has not been active since 2016.

“Once fully staffed, we’ll have six full-time, actually seven with our traffic (regulatory) officer, it was an already existing position, full-time, proactive traffic enforcement, officers out on the bricks, Zibolski said.

“In the summer we’ll have some cycles out, otherwise it will be marked squads, we want to also have presence out there when we’re doing the traffic enforcement, and again, from the deterrence factor, but also we want people to see that we’re out there with this traffic enforcement and, there’s lots to work on,” Zibolski added.

Zibolski says shifts will vary. “Their normal hours will be midday to late evening, but they’ll have some fluctuation, we want them to be pretty flexible so that we, we don’t want them to be very predictable,” he concluded.

This summer, the department resumed motorcycle patrols with officers working traffic enforcement in high-traffic complaint neighborhoods, primarily in south Fargo.
