LIVE: Unmasking the Artist Behind the Post.Mortem Shoppe

FARGO — It’s less than a month until Halloween, and Halloweenies tend to start to quake in their boots this time of year at the thought we might be caught without a costume on the big day.

But Fargo based maskmaker and costumer “Vincent Thorn” has you covered this Halloween, both literally and figuratively.

He launched his in-store selection of handmade, original handmade masks and costumes earlier this year at First Avenue Market in downtown Fargo, and they’ve been selling them as fast as he can put them on display, as well as post them on his online Etsy store.

“Thorn,” whose real name is Evan Girtz, also crafts a backstory and original character for each of his masks, although he says once customers buy one, they tend to take on a new life of their own.

Girtz sat down for a live interview on the Morning Show about how he got started creating his masks and costumes, where his inspiration comes from, and the feedback he’s getting for his original designs.
