Assembly Begins on Mural Backdrop

This is the first year in many decades that a different artist is behind the creation of the mural for Concordia's Christmas Concert.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR)  – The Emmy® Award-winning Concordia Christmas Concerts are hugely popular in the F-M area, and an integral component of them is the mural background behind the choirs and the orchestra.

Assembly of the mural began on December 1st- and this year, the design came from a new source: artist Paul Johnson of Pelican Rapids.

He said he feels a deep connection to the source material for the concert and wants the audience to experience their same emotions when they come out to watch the spectacle.

“They are able to really connect like they haven’t before,” he said, representing his hopes for the experience.

“Because the music, the orchestra, the sound, and the art – it comes together.”

The 98th annual concert, “Our Eyes, at Last, Shall See Him,” will be performed December 6 through 8 in Moorhead and December 12 at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.
