LIVE: Heart and Soul of the Community
HANKINSON, N.D. — Nonprofits make up the heart and soul of the region.
And Giving Hearts Day, which is on Thursday Feb. 13th, is a big part of what helps them keep doing it.
One of the many nonprofits hoping for your donations this year is St. Gerard’s in Hankinson.
They started as a small rural hospital in the 1950s.
Since then, their services have expanded into in-home care, skilled care nursing, and day care.
They say their mission is critical to keeping seniors living close to their families and support systems rather than forcing them into facilities that are sometimes hours away from their hometowns.
And they say Giving Hearts Day is by far their biggest fundraiser.
St. Gerard’s Terry Bladow joined the Morning Show for a live interview about why St. Gerard’s mission is so important especially in a time of dwindling rural health care resources around the region and throughout the nation.
