Several Inches Of Snow Expected In The Overnight Hours In Parts of North Dakota and Minnesota

(KVRR) — Winter has once again brought itself into the spotlight and experts are saying to be prepared.
“As we get into overnight, temperatures are going to start falling below freezing. So we’ll start to see more rapid accumulations. Especially when we start to see that one to two-inch snowfall rates tomorrow morning into the early afternoon,” said Austin Perroux, Meteorologist with National Weather Service Grand Forks.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for southeast North Dakota and west-central Minnesota with some areas seeing up to six to eight inches. While a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for eastern North Dakota into northwest Minnesota with a chance of three to six inches of snowfall.
“There’s still a lot of uncertainty related to this system. We know somewhere in eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota and portions of South Dakota there will be heavy snowfall accumulations exceeding six inches. Unfortunately, we don’t quite know where that is going to be,” said Perroux.
The National Weather Service has determined there will be several inches of snow that will accumulate in the overnight hours. Scheels Home and Hardware is currently dealing with the challenge of having to switch their inventories from spring weather to winter weather.
“You’re always trying to just keep everything on hand in case of the emergencies, but also set up for the next season that’s coming. And so it’s a little bit of a challenge, but we try to make sure that we keep a small selection available like I said for those emergencies,” said Ashley Wait, Marketing Leader at Scheels Home and Hardware.
Currently, many locally owned businesses have stocked shovels and salt available. Wait said that if anyone needs to purchase anything winter gear-related they will have it in stock.
