Police investigating suspicious death in Bemidji, Minnesota

UPDATE: Bemidji Police Detectives say that the adult female and child had been treated and released from Sanford Hospital.

The deceased male has been identified as Benjamin D. Martinez, age 41 of Bemidji. Martinez appears to have died from a drug overdose.

 

BEMIDJI, Minn. (KFGO/KVRR) – Police are investigating a suspicious death after a man was found dead in an apartment unit in Bemidji..

The call came in on Monday at 1300 America Avenue.

Officers found the dead man along with a woman and child in the apartment unit. Bemidji Ambulance Service treated the woman and child before taking them to Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji.

The apartment was also evacuated at the same time after a caller reported a possible gas leak. Investigators determined there was no gas leak and everyone was allowed back in.

The man’s cause of death is under investigation.

Police say there is no apparent threat to the public.
