Primed For Bargains: Fargo Police on Amazon Prime Day Crime
FARGO — Are you primed for bargains?
Amazon Prime Days starts today and runs through Friday.
But porch pirates are also primed for steals, according to law enforcement.
So Fargo Police are offering some of their best professional advice on how to harden yourself as a target for thieves during the big online shopping event.
First, consider investing in a delivery lock box for your front door area or porch.
You can also ask for a particular delivery time so you or a friend or neighbor can be home to bring it inside.
You can also ask that the delivery person leave the package in a more secure area that’s hard to see from the street.
Many porch pirates operate opportunistically, so try not to leave packages visible to passersby.
Police say there’s really no neighborhood in the city that’s immune from porch pirates, although apartment dwellers can get a lot of unwanted attention from them because of the bulk of deliveries.
The FPD’s Sergeant Tim Falconnier joined the Morning Show for a live interview highlighting their best tips and tricks about how to keep from getting hit by porch pirates, as well as ways to stop online shopping scammers from exploiting you.
