MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the people involved in a murder-suicide in Moorhead over the weekend.

They are 53-year-old Nancy Acosta and 21-year-old Camilo Acosta, both of Moorhead.

Police say just before 4 in the morning on August 16, they responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment building in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue South.

Officers arrived and located two adult victims both deceased from gunshot wounds.

They also recovered a firearm at the scene.

A juvenile and another adult were in the apartment when the shooting occurred, but they were not hurt.

Based on their statements to investigators, as well as the fact that both victims were known to each other, the department believes this to be a murder-suicide.

The incident remains under investigation and police are not providing any further information at this time.

It is the second double shooting in the city in the past week.

Police Chief Chris Helmick says he understands concerns regarding violence in Moorhead, but assured everyone that the department remains fully committed to protecting residents and maintaining low crime rates.
