Night for Sight in View

FARGO — They’ve got a vision of a world in which people in developing countries get the eye surgeries they need.

And next month, you’re invited to help.

It’s the third annual “Night for Sight” celebration and fundraiser in Fargo.

It used to be a formal gala, but the group, Haiti Eye Mission, decided they wanted to something more playful and informal, and offer it at more modest price point.

This year’s event is a casual dance party to raise funds for cataract surgeries for Haitians and Dominicans.

The medical team brings all the equipment and expertise to the island nations.

Haiti and the Domincan Republican share an island, and the team sets up operations on the Dominican side, because Haiti is widely regarded as being currently unsuitable for travel.

Night for Sight’s Kristin Follman joined the Morning Show to talk about how the mission’s evolved over the past nine years, how little it costs in American dollars to make these surgeries happen for the Haitians and Dominicans who need them, and what to expect from this year’s fundraiser.
