Bundle Up Your Baby Bump Seeks to Help Needy Families for the Colder Months
The biannual event saw a spike in attendance with many concerned about the suspension of SNAP benefits.
WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Catholic Charities of North Dakota first sensed that families in the Fargo-Moorhead area were in need during the pandemic – and their biannual event, Bundle Up Your Baby Bump, has been occurring ever since.
This one, held at Trinity Lutheran Elementary in West Fargo, is the 9th item giveaway.
With the uncertainty over SNAP benefits – combined with the quickly-advancing cold weather – this might be the most important Bundle yet.
“We get comments like, ‘I don’t know how I’d be able to take care of my baby without it’,” said Alyssa Yanish.
Families began arriving at 10:00 A.M. and continued in a steady stream until doors closed at 1 in the afternoon.
When it was all said and done, 425 families had stocked up on blankets, coats, baby food, and more.
Catholic Charities says that this is just part of how they try and use their resources to make sure nobody has to suffer during these winter months.
“We exist to help people in need and advocate for the common good of all – helping people that maybe just need a little bit of a hand up to help take care of their families,” said Yanish.
Those in need can reach out to Catholic Charities of ND at any time for assistance – and the next Bundle Up Your Baby Bump event will be held in May of 2026.
