West Fargo High School Jazz Band spreads holiday cheer
Fargo, N.D. (KVRR) — While the weather outside isn’t exactly frightful, the music inside is definitely delightful.
The West Fargo High School Jazz Band spent the day touring around the metro, including this stop at Brewhalla, spreading holiday cheer with percussion and brass.
“It’s a lot of fun that we get to do some Christmas sort of stuff. We get to do our mix of Christmas tunes, a mix of our big band sort of things. And it’s great to get out here. We’ve been to several nursing homes, like Bethany and Sheyenne Crossings.”
This is the first year the jazz band has done a holiday tour, and they couldn’t be happier with how it’s gone.
“It means everything, having community spaces for community events like this where kids can show what we’ve been working on and give back to the community. Hopefully we spread some holiday cheer today through music.”
And being able to share that holiday spirit with the crowd at Brewhalla means so much for these students.
“I’m like really into jazz. I self-taught myself trombone over the past couple years to really get into jazz. It’s been a lot of fun connecting with everyone all about jazz”
“It’s such a fun music to not only share with other people but to listen to, and I noticed that. As you saw we had quite the audience here. People love listening to it, and I love sharing it.”
And Christianson says these students’ love for jazz makes him hopeful for the future.
“These kids are proof that jazz will never die. These kids love, love jazz. They’re inspiring. They love it, and it makes me love it even more.”
