Fargo-based truck driver expected to enter US House race

FARGO (KVRR) – A former North Dakota state lawmaker is preparing to run for Congress.
Democrat Vern Thompson of Fargo is a truck driver who served in the state House and Senate in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
Thompson is a Minnewaukan native. He tells KVRR Local News this is a “pivotal time” for the nation and says he plans to make a formal announcement next week.
Democrat Trygve Hammer is also running for the House. Hammer is a retired Marine, former educator, oil field roughneck and current political columnist.
The seat is currently occupied by Republican Rep. Julie Fedorchak.
