Remembering the Memory Cafe for Giving Hearts Day

FARGO — Giving Hearts Day is just a few hours away, and one local nonprofit is hoping you remember them this year for the annual fundraising event.

Memory cafe volunteers say they’ve been growing steadily since they established the charity in the metro four-plus years ago.

They’re now up to between ninety and one hundred clients each Monday at their gatherings.

They provide education and resources for people with memory loss and their loved ones.

Their activities include a memory-loss choral group, arts, and most importantly, the socialization that can help keep the worst symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease at bay.

The Memory Cafe’s Maggie Ness joined the Morning Show to talk about why socialization is so critical to healthy brains, not just for those suffering from memory loss, but for their caretakers as well.
