Watch: Black bear sighted in north Fargo neighborhood
FARGO (KVRR) – Fargo police have moved away from the area where a small black bear climbed onto an evergreen tree in the yard of a home in the Woodcrest neighborhood.
Police cleared the area following the advice of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
“After consulting with a wildlife biologist from North Dakota Game and Fish, the FPD is clearing the scene and urging residents to continue to stay away from the area and give the bear space to move through town and leave on its own,” said Neighborhood Services Lt. Shane Aberle.
“For everyone’s safety, including the bear, we want to emphasize: Do not attempt to locate or approach the animal. Fewer people in the area helps reduce stress on the bear and supports a safer outcome for both the community and the animal.”
