SCHEELS Home & Hardware to close by the end of the year

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — SCHEELS announces that it will be closing SCHEELS Home & Hardware along 13th Avenue South in Fargo by the end of the year.
It is the last remaining hardware store for the employee-owned company.
In a statement they say the Board of Directors determined that focusing on SCHEELS core business in the Fargo-Moorhead area is the best path forward.
The company hopes to transition Home & Hardware associates to other open positions at SCHEELS in the metro or at any of its other 34 stores across the country.
“Having proudly served our community for more than 120 years, this decision is based solely on the evolution of our business over time and not a reflection of our phenomenal team. The passion, dedication, and heart of all Home & Hardware associates is unmatched, and we are deeply grateful for their incredible service.” stated Matt Hanson, Chief Employee Owner.
Founded in 1902 as a small hardware store in Minnesota, SCHEELS has grown into all-sports retailer with 34 locations across 16 states, and 4 new stores to open by spring 2028.
The company employs more than 13,000 associates.
