Woman starts petition to try and save Hornbacher’s Express in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A change.org petition has been started to save Hornbacher’s Express on South University Drive.

St. Cloud-based Coborn’s announced last week that the store will close on June 27.

The petition was started by Millissa Martin who says the “grocery store has served countless families in the Hawthorne neighborhood, becoming more than just a shopping destination.”

She also says the location is especially vital for lower-income families who rely on its proximity for their everyday needs.

Coborn’s says the lease for the store is expiring and it made the difficult decision to close the location.

The store employs more than 60 full-time and part-time workers who will be offered positions at its other locations.

Hornbacher’s is celebrating 75 years of business in the FM metro.

It was bought by Coborn’s in 2018.
