Baby Sharks Debut at the Oceanarium

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo….
Don’t be surprised if that’s what you hear from the Moorhead side of the Red River.
That’s thanks to Minnesota State Moorhead’s newest acquisitions.
They’re welcoming three baby bamboo sharks to the university’s Oceanarium in Langseth Hall.
Bamboo sharks live at the bottom of the ocean and feed on shrimp and other small animals in the sand.
They don’t have sharp teeth like larger pelagic shark species, and won’t get much more than three feet long as adults.
Because of that, and because of their docile personalities, they’re a very popular choice for touch pools.
The Oceanarium’s three new little shark girls are hand-fed and already display distinct personalities.
They even display preferences for different types of music, according to the Oceanarium’s Kathryn Hanson.
They’re throwing the choice of the shark babies’ names open to the public, so cast your vote today.
