Shooting reported following vehicle break-in in Clay County

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Clay County authorities are on the lookout for a maroon SUV after a man reported he was shot at on a highway northeast of Dilworth.

Sheriff Mark Empting says Red River Regional Dispatch received a call from a man stating that his vehicle was broken into at 2751 8th Ave. N. in Moorhead. The man said he saw a female exiting from his vehicle, entering another vehicle, and leaving the area.

The caller reported that he began following the suspect vehicle. After they were in the area of 70th Street and 28th Avenue North, the driver of the suspect vehicle fired two shots at him.

The suspect vehicle then left the area, traveling eastbound. It’s described as a maroon Chevrolet Suburban.

No one was injured. The suspect vehicle was not located.

Empting is asking residents in the area of 2751 8th Avenue North to check security cameras and contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 218-299-5151 if they have any video or information.
