RICHLAND CO., N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — A semi and trailer are destroyed by fire on I-29 south of Fargo.

The rig caught fire in the southbound lanes near the Christine exit.

Southbound traffic was detoured to the off and on-ramps while clean-up was underway.

State Patrol Sgt. Kristjan Helgoe says a tire blew with debris hitting a fuel line, starting the cab on fire.

A front-end loader was called to the scene along with a heavy duty tow truck.

The semi driver, Geral Carlos Sala Romero of Miami, Florida, was not injured.

He was charged for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
