Cass County Vector Control: “Our Biggest Trap Count of the Year”
Spraying for mosquitoes is planned around the region
CASS COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) — Mosquitos are out in full force and towns around the region are trying to take care of the problem.
Tonight and tomorrow night, Moorhead will do ground spraying for mosquitos.
Grand Forks and East Grand Forks is also spraying this evening until around 1 a.m.
West Nile Virus has been detected in Grand Forks.
The state’s first human case of West Nile virus was found in a person in Morton County, just west of Bismarck.
The spray is perfectly safe for people and pets alike.
Cass County Vector Control has seen one of the largest trap counts in years, and the spray help with controlling the bugs and diseases.
Cass County Vector Control Director Ben Prather says, “The good news is that when we’re spraying, we’re actually controlling both disease carrying mosquitoes and the regular pesky nuisance ones. So those numbers should go down but again, as I have stated earlier, we did see our biggest trap count of the year when it comes to nuisance mosquitoes”
