West Fargo man found guilty of killing his wife

FARGO (KVRR) – A jury has found a West Fargo man guilty of killing his wife.

Spencer Moen is convicted of killing his wife, Sonja Moen, in their West Fargo home last year.

Moen was arrested in August, 2023 after calling to report that Sonja Moen fell asleep in their bathtub and was unresponsive.

An autopsy showed that she died of blunt force trauma to the head and had at least one broken rib.

“I don’t agree with the verdict,” Moen’s attorney, Richard Varianno said in an interview with KVRR Local News. Varianno says based on some evidence-related issues, he believes Moen “has a good case for an appeal.”
