LIVE: Swedish Death Cleaning with the Nordic Culture Club

FARGO — We don’t usually talk about the subject of death as a big draw for summer tourist season.

But if you’re thinking ahead of summer festival season in the region, start thinking about summer death cleaning now.

The Nordic Culture Club is holding a “Swedish Death Cleaning” fundraiser ahead of this June’s Scandinavian Festival at the Hjemkomst Center.

Organizers say Swedish Death Cleaning is a practice in Sweden in which people go through their belongings and set aside for donation or discard anything they don’t want their family to deal with after they die.

The Swedish Death Cleaning rummage sale they held last year was such a success, they’ve decided to make it a regular feature to raise funds for their annual festivals.

Board member Valerie Johnson joined the Morning Show to talk about the practice and share organizers’ top tips on the most popular attractions for this year’s festival, plus the new authors, vendors and entertainers you’ll see if you attend.
