Disability Pride Fest Tomorrow

MOORHEAD — The very first Disability Pride Fest is coming to the metro Thursday, and you’re invited.

It coincides with other Disability pride fest celebrations in major u-s cities across the nation, including one in Minneapolis-St. Paul, and it’s part of the commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Organizers say it’s a chance to see just how many people in our region are living with disabilities, or who have friends or loved ones who do.

They’re giving away free ice cream to the first one hundred people.

You can also play games and create community art, learn about disability-focused organizations in the region, and most importantly, connect with others.

The event is free, family-friendly, and inclusive of all, including people with non-visible disabilities.

Organizers Marisa Bengtson-Loerzel and Addie Loerzel joined the Morning Show to talk about why making connections with people who understand living with disability is so important and what you can find if you attend.
